Description:Position Summary:The Automation and Controls
Engineer will play a key role in the realization of automated
equipment at TARGAN. This position will be hands-on; requiring the
Engineer to program, debug, troubleshoot said equipment with the
goal of putting machinery into customer facilities.Key Job
Responsibilities:Programming of modern PLC/PAC devices using
IEC61131-3 compliant languagesIntegration of I/O systems using
industrial automation fieldbus protocols such as EtherCAT,
Ethernet/IP, IO-Link, etc.Integration of Variable Frequency Drives,
machine vision, safety, and other pieces of equipment using the
above protocolsIncorporate sensors for detection, flow, pressure,
etc. into the machine program using I/O systems utilizing the above
protocolsBasic HMI touchscreen interfaces and their interaction
with PLC/PACsBasic understanding of schematic diagrams of
electrical systemsTroubleshoot equipment using electrical
multi-meters and other testing devicesWork as part of a
cross-functional team including Engineers and Scientists to create
the desired product outcomesParticipate as an active member of
cross-functional teams; provide and receive constructive
inputAbility to be given direction and work independently for
periods of time to achieve desired outcomesRequirements:Proficiency
in programming industrial equipment using at least 1 of the
IEC61131-3 compliant languagesLadder logic (AB, Siemens, Codesys,
etc.)Structured Text (AB, Codesys, etc.) - at a minimum ability to
understand and/or learnFunction block / AOICodesys programming
(Schneider, Wago, etc.) is highly desirableMachine Interface design
using a vendor package such as AB, Schneider, and othersInteraction
with PLC/PAC via appropriate drivers and mapping of
variablesCreation, troubleshooting, and modification of screens for
use by service personnel, maintenance, etc.Must be able to program
and interact with PLC/PACs daily including connection,
modification, troubleshooting, etc.Setup and use of Ethernet
protocols such as EtherCAT, Ethernet/IPUse of sensor-based
protocols such as IO-LinkUnderstanding of different I/O
technologies: discrete, analog, encoders, etc.Ideally a broad
understanding of industrial machinery, associated sensors,
transducers, etc.Ability to provide troubleshooting support both
onsite at customer facilities, and remotely when necessaryEducation
& Experience:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or
Computer Science (or similar discipline)5-8 years of relevant
experienceExperience in a biology, or animal health related field
is a plusDesired Skills & Qualifications:Experience with basic
linear motionBasic understanding of state machinesBackground in
industrial panel designUse of a Parametric 3D package such as
SolidWorksUtilization of CAE/CAD program such as AutoCAD
