Salary Grade: NC16 Salary Range: $52,875 - $92,531
THIS POSITION HAS BEEN APPROVED TO RECEIVE A $1,000 SIGN ON BONUS.
Eligible applicants will receive a lump sum payment of $1,000 upon
completion of onboarding. Before receiving this retention bonus,
the hired applicant must agree to repay the bonus on a pro-rated
basis should he/she not have a performance rating of at least Meets
Expectations or separates employment with NCDOT within 12 months of
the hire date.
The primary purpose of Location & Surveys is to serve as support
services in providing engineering analysis, mapping and other data
for the design of transportation facilities and the acquisition of
property for the construction of transportation facilities.
L&S is looking to hire an individual to complete beginning
level engineering work in the independent application of
professional techniques and standards to moderately difficult
transportation, design, or analysis engineering projects, or in
assisting higher level engineers on major or complex projects.
In this position you will:
primarily address the functionality and applicability of survey
data for project design with little supervision.
support higher level engineers in functional areas such as project
design through the review and development of project data.
assist in contract management of survey projects state-wide, and
for engineering coordination of projects with Private Engineering
Firm (PEF) field forces for special survey services, including but
not limited to Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) surveys and
related Test Holes.
have primary responsibility in the contact of survey crews on SUE
Test Hole projects for the purpose of ensuring that the engineering
needs of NCDOT during surveys are met by the PEF.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Qualified Applicants must submit an application that clearly
reflects work experience that demonstrates the following:
Knowledge of contract administration and assisting in the
procurement of limited services contract agreements.
Experience evaluating project requests and scoping projects with
Private Engineering Firms.
Experience reviewing field data and project conditions to ensure
that correct construction information has been obtained.
Experience making preliminary evaluations and ratings for PEF work
performance.
Knowledge of Contract Management procedures, including estimates,
negotiations, Purchase Orders, Notice to Proceeds, and
Invoices.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of engineering from an
appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination
of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification
May require registration as a professional engineer by the North
Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
