Location : Cary, NC (hybrid) Summary of responsibilities The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, engineering, and optimization of current and emerging network technologies to support MetLife business in over 40+ countries.This role requires expertise in many of the following network architectures, including IP route/switch, VPN access, Load Balancing, firewalls, acceleration, Cloud, SD-WAN, as well as coding with Ansible, Python and service chaining through API integration and automation. List of responsibilities Research, design, develop, and implement network architecture and strategy with a 3-5 year technology horizon supporting MetLife's global business Manage 2-3 medium, or 1-2 large network engineering initiatives simultaneously; Liaise with technology partners and vendors to ensure effective communication, collaboration, and stakeholder involvement during project lifecycle Develop operational strategies such as End of Life (EOL) replacement schedules, applicable product roadmaps, vulnerability management processes, automation, monitoring/alerting and best practice documentation Collaborate in a Devops environment for Operations and Development for project delivery and problem resolution Self-motivated with strong team-oriented and collaborative attitude Required expertise 3+ years Network Engineering with design and implementation experience for large enterprise environment Expert Cisco networking environment in any of the following: Route/Switch, WAAS, Wifi; Firewalling, integration/automation coding with Ansible/Python experience, also strong IP and network protocols Strong knowledge and understanding of network infrastructure components such as compute, storage, load balancing (F5), cabling, administration, network management (Solarwinds, NetBrain, Splunk), and monitoring Scripting/Software experience including but not limited to Python, Ansible, Powershell, REST and other APIs Preferred experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred, or equivalent work experience Solid experience in scripting and automation within Network and Security environments Professional certification; such as CCIE, CCNP, CCNA, CISSP or relevant industry certification strongly preferred Strong communication and presentation skills International experience including support, installations, and vendor management Cloud (Azure, AWS, Google) architecture and integration experience At MetLife, we're leading the global transformation of an industry we've long defined.
