Storage Engineer Role Value Proposition: MetLife's Global Information Technology Organization (GITO) is growing and requires a Storage Engineer to lead, innovate, and build upon the large storage infrastructure portfolio. As a storage team member, they will lead efforts to drive efficiency, standards, and automation into the environment while utilizing innovative methods to enable robust services and ensure stable operations of the Global IT storage infrastructure. Will work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Is a core team member supporting MetLife Storage Infrastructure efforts with a focus on automation and orchestration. Will contribute to global deployment of MetLife next generation NAS solution. Engage in end-to-end recovery testing, initiate table-top exercise around recovery from ransomware event. Key Responsibilities: * Contribute to efforts in process improvement leveraging automation and Code as a Service technologies. * This role is engaged in maintenance and support of Dell storage technologies such as Isilon, ECS, XtremIO, PowerMax, SnapVX, Appsync, VMWare VSAN/Cloud Foundation and Cisco/Brocade storage directors. * Report on performance and capacities and make allocation recommendations based on trending and utilizing tools such as InsightIQ and SuperNA. * Participates in incident analysis and provides root cause updates to management; leads the analysis and resolution of reoccurring incidents, implements, and provides proactive monitoring/analysis to help prevent problems before they occur. * Provide tier four support to internal and vendor solutions. * Deliver engineering specifications, assist with functional specifications, and collaborate on technical designs and specifications for projects and initiatives. * Provide technical or business analytical leadership for specific storage and backup needs or objectives to meet business requirements. * Work closely with external vendors and other personnel to optimize and facilitate the best solution to meet the needs of the business. Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: Required: * 3+ years of progressive work experience in enterprise servers, storage or virtualization. * Strong background in enterprise network attached storage, management and protection solutions. Must be able to design and implement new solutions, manage change, and add policies in a large-scale, mission critical, multi-PB storage environment. * Strong communication and relationship management skills- ability to collaborate effectively and transparently and work as part of a team. * Proven experience in designing, maintaining, and managing enterprise storage and backup systems. * Skills with scripting and/or automation technologies. * Strong consulting skills with an ability to work closely with stakeholders to go beyond "what" they require and focus on "why" such that expectations are met. Preferred: * Proven experience managing multi-site environments across a global footprint. * Experience working with third party resources on large projects, ideally in a matrixed environment. * Certification in public cloud solutions * Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and/or relevant industry certifications * Ideal candidate is SAFe certified and is familiar with the NIST Cybersecurity framework At MetLife, we're leading the global transformation of an industry we've long defined.
