SummaryThe Clinical Lead RN is a role developed to work in
coordination withthe nursing leadership in an assigned unit or
depart ment to ensure thework is accomplished effectively. The
Clinical Lead RN is the first linesupport for staff,physicians and
other related provid ers on service-specific clinical issues. The
Clinical Lead RN is general ly a long-termrole, requiring clinical
and interpersonal skills. The Cli nical Lead RNcollaborates with
the manager on clinical and non-clinical issues(employee relations,
individual behaviors, physician relationships ,etc.). The Clinical
Lead RN is the support for theunit/department/servi ce when the
manager is unavailable. The ClinicalTeam Leader is responsib le for
supervising, directing, coaching andmentoring their assigned core
group of staff.Work PerformedDuties and responsibi lities include
all those required of the CN III aswell as:Plan and coord inate
clinical requirements for staff and ensure that allCBO and CBE req
uirements for staff are current.Plan and assist with coordination
of uni t staff schedules and submit formanager approval.Coordinate
clinical req uirements with staff regarding equipment
andsupplies.Consult with precep tors and orientees on a regular
basis to providesupport and determine ho w orientation should
proceed on an individualbasis.Collaborate with the manager for
issue resolutions and projects toimprove work flow processes
throughout the department utilizing aproactive approach.Collaborate
wit hdifferent departments (pharmacy, radiology, lab,registration)
to resol ve issues and improve work flow processesthroughout the
department.Colla borate with the nurse managers in the interview
process for newapplicant s.Mentor/coach staff to enhance
theirprofessional development.Assesses the performance of assigned
new hires and orientees includingentry level nurses, nursing care
assistants and health unitcoordinators; provides o ngoing feedback
and coaching.Understand and communicate potential clinic
alequipment or supply issuesto appropriate team members (Materials,
Bio med, Sterile Processing,etc).Mentor and monitor the preceptors
for all n ew employees.Provide clinical/education updates and skill
check-offs to entire staffon a regular basis.Providesimmediate
support and education on policy, procedures,equipment and
supplies.Responsible for learning, i mplementing and teaching
newtechnology/procedures.Demonstrates awareness of current problems
and basic plan for allpatients within assigned area .Provides
clinical consultation and guidance as needed to facilitatepati ent
care.Gives assistance and/or direction to staff to facilitate
qualit y patientflow.Assess staffing needs according to workload
and staff comp etency; Re-assigns and adjusts staffing based upon
patient care needs.De legates responsibilities within the scope of
practice and validatedcompe tencies in order to meet the workload
demands of the shift.Facilitates a ssignments that support learning
for the orientee or nurselearner.Promot es an atmosphere of open
communication that facilitates staffinput into decision-making,

Education Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing required.
Experience Three years of experience in nursing practice. Selected
candidates must meet the Clinical Ladder requirements for CN III
within one year of appointment. Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
Must have current or compact RN license in the State of North
