summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) - Outpatient Surgery PRN I provides
direct patient care in an ambulatory care setting, utilizing the
nursing process to administer treatments and medications, monitor
patient conditions, and educate patients and families. The role
requires a minimum of 18 months of hospital experience and
emphasizes collaboration with healthcare teams to ensure optimal
patient care and outcomes. As an advocate for patients' physical
and emotional well-being, the RN plays a crucial role in surgical
site verification and prepares patients for procedures.
Description:
Registered Nurse (RN) - Outpatient Surgery
PRN I (minimum of 1 shifts/pay period, up to 1 weekend shift/call
per month, holiday shifts are on a rotation basis)
*** Must have 18 months of RN hospital experience to apply. ***
Position Summary:
Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process
in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
Performs plan of care intervention, including medication
administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well
as other medical care treatment.
Documents patient care given.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as
appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
Detects change in patient status, reports to appropriate health
care team member and utilizes resources as dictated by the acuity.
Assigns priorities to the patient's problems with highest priority
given to problems that are most urgent and critical.
Assists patients with performing activities of daily living,
including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and
ambulation.
Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient
care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and
spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides
patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition,
and circumstances.
Insures completion of requests for diagnostic work and support
services.
Counts narcotics according to policy and procedure.
Documents and marks "surgical site verification".
Knowledge in all areas of care provided to patients in the
Ambulatory Care Unit.
Knowledge in all areas of care specific to the endoscopic patients,
including moderate sedation.
Knowledge in operating endoscopic equipment.
Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of
the patient.
