Must-Have: - Comfortability in providing care in a variety of
settings as needed. - Strong interpersonal communication skills. -
Ability to work collaboratively with team members. - Proficient
written and oral communication skills. - Ability to tolerate
moderate to high stress levels. - Experience interpreting telemetry
strips. Description: Registered Nurse for MedSurg/Tele unit. The
facility has 885 licensed beds and is designated as a Level 1
Trauma Center. This is a teaching hospital with a focus on academic
education. The unit consists of 26 beds divided into two patient
areas. Common patient types include general medicine cases such as
diabetes, gastrointestinal issues, respiratory conditions, renal
conditions, and wound care, as well as mental health diagnoses
including dementia and developmental delays. Patient ratios are 1:6
for the general unit and 1:5 for the locked behavioral health unit.
Support within the department includes Nursing Assistants who
provide basic nursing care and assist Registered Nurses as needed.
Other support includes a receptionist, charge nurse, rapid response
team, hospitalists, intensivists, and centralized telemetry
monitoring. Technology used includes electronic medical records, IV
pumps, and medication dispensing systems. Floating to other MedSurg
units may be required as needed. Scrub color is royal blue.
