Registered Nurse – Emergency Room - Travel - (ER RN) StartDate:
4/20/2026 Available Shifts: 12 N Pay Rate: $1799.00 - $1910.00
General Information: Beds: 50 beds in ED (to include hallway beds
and Psych Holds) No locked area for Psych holds; 2 seclusion rooms
within Main ED Minimum Experience: 2-year minimum ED experience in
comparable facility for acuity and size First-time traveler? No,
unless specifically approved by management 50,000-60,000 ED visits
per year; Average 160 patients seen per day Patient Types: All ages
(Neonate to Geriatric) Multispecialty – Medical/
Cardiac/Neuro/Ortho/Trauma/Interventional – will stabilize and ship
out higher-level Neuro and Trauma patients DKA, Sepsis, Multisystem
trauma (stabilization), Respiratory Failure, Renal Failure, COVID,
IVDA, ETOH, Mental Health (Adult and Peds), Pediatric Med/Tele
Stroke requiring TPA administration, spinal precautions STEMI,
NSTEMI, Heart failure Patient Ratios: RN: Days & Nights: Main ED –
1:3-5 (based on acuity) ED/Psych Holding – 1:6 Required
Certifications: RN: BLS ACLS PALS CPI (required) – MOAB is not
accepted NIHSS (preferred) TNCC (preferred) Skills required: RN:
Travel pairs are not preferred - must get manager approval Same
shifts cannot be guaranteed Experience in a facility with a high
acuity, fast paced environment comparable to UNC Health
Southeastern Critical care drips/titration, cardiac rhythm
interpretation, measuring cardiac strips, drains, chest tubes,
hemodynamic lines: Art lines/CVP, Stroke experience (TPA
administration and mixing), conscious sedation US guided IV’s is
not a skill that will be needed at this time for travelers Support
on the Unit: Secretary, 24/7 CNA – may be available to assist with:
vitals, glucose checks, 12 lead EKG’s Charge nurse: unassigned
Centralized and Bedside Tele monitoring within the department
Phlebotomy: (will do all peripheral lab draws) Resource Nurse –
team lead – staffing dependent House Supervisor, 24/7 RT, 24/7 (ED
specific) – will perform ABG’s and Nebulizer txs Pharmacy, 24/7 ED
specific pharmacist – 1100-2300, variable days of the week (2) ED
physicians, 24/7 Mid-Level Providers, 0800-0200, 7 days per week
RRT, 24/7 ICU Intensivist, available for consult 24/7 Security –
typically in the ED at all times but may be pulled for in house
emergencies as well Central transport to move patients, unless the
patient requires constant RN monitoring due to acuity Charting
System/Equipment: EPIC - required Alaris Omnicell Spacelab monitors
Floating: Could potentially float to ICU but would be helping
hands/task RN only Orientation: 1st day – Hospital NEO 2nd Day –
Preceptor orientation to unit 3rd Day – in staffing, works
independently Scheduling: Shift Times: 0700-1900 1900-0700 *Will
not be able to accommodate blocked scheduling – please do not
request approval for this* 8-week schedule Weekend rotation: Every
other (Fri/Sat/Sun) Can we approve time off? Up to 7 days; must be
willing to extend contract if taking a full week off, if requesting
holidays or days surrounding holidays off – get approval from NM
Will they be on call? No Holiday Expectations: 3/6 major holidays -
Thanksgiving, Day After Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day,
NYE, New Year’s Day Other notes: Most travelers are diligent about
their work and care about their patients; close-knit unit, traveler
friendly, extensions offered if a good fit for the unit Scrub
Color: Ceil Blue or White Undershirts must be White, Ceil Blue,
Black or Grey Jackets must be White, Ceil Blue or Black No
sweatshirt or hoodies Parking: Free in designated areas Required
