We are seeking a DME Athletic Trainer to provide direct and indirect care to patients at our Duke Ortho Arringdon.

JOB DUTIES
Tracking each DME claim from when it is written until it is billed for and is scanned into the patient's chart.
Maintaining proper workflow at their particular site.
Managing inventory counts and adjusting par-levels in inventory tracking system as needed.
Fitting braces to patients.
Auditing each DME claim's note for completeness and accuracy per insurance standards and following up with providers to make corrections when needed.
Educating providers of correct documentation for insurance standards.
Ensuring correct billing for surgery patient's DME.
Handling complex/complicated DME fitting situations as clinic staff needs.
Educating clinic staff of proper bracing techniques.
Communicating any requests for new product or product discontinuation for each site for approval by DME Manager and implementing once approved.
Having in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Being skilled in fitting many different types of orthopedic braces and devices.
Verifying patient insurance for DME.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in athletic training or equivalent from a CAATE accredited program required.
NATABOC Certification (National Athletic Trainers Association-Board of Certification) is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Work requires knowledge of the domains of athletic training: injury/illness prevention and wellness protection, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate and emergency care, treatment and rehabilitation, and organizational and professional health and well-being.
Able to independently seek out resources and work collaboratively
Able to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership and others
