The Windows Application Architect is responsible for the design and implementation of systems that run custom and off-the-shelf software. Systems designs should ensure high levels of availability and security of the system. This person will ensure Windows systems meet compliance objectives, are easy to maintain, and meet the needs of internal and external clients. Another large part of this job is high-level troubleshooting and monitoring of .NET, IIS, and SQL Server. In addition to traditional Systems Administration responsibilities, you will be part of a team that will leverage multiple cloud technologies to evolve our hosting platforms. Experience with Cloud technologies, infrastructure transformation, and automation is a must. The right candidate will need to possess the drive and interpersonal skills to resolve common conflicts experienced through transformation, help evolve the team, the platform and constantly drive business value in a dynamic and hyper-fast environment. Responsibilities Design Windows systems based on requirements from internal developers and external partners Work with Operations team to implement systems designs Provide hands-on Windows system administration, patching, scripting and maintenance. Collaborate with a cross-functional team of application developers and operations engineers to understand complex product requirements and translate them into automated solutions Collaborate with peers to support and improve architecture, systems, processes, standards and tools Participate in architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment, security, and high availability in support of Infrastructure, Software and Platform as a Service offerings Troubleshooting of complex systems involving compute, network, and storage components Develop and maintain capacity plans for all systems Ensure adherence to policies/standards Write and maintain code for automating the creation of scalable/resilient systems/infrastructure Ensure all solutions are properly monitored and instrumented Analyze server, network and storage characteristics (e.g. CPU behavior, latency, transmission speeds, packet loss and throughput), triage and troubleshoot problems Qualifications 8 years administering Windows Server with enterprise level skills in Windows physical and virtual environments 5 years' experience supporting IIS and .NET applications with SQL Server backends 3 years' scripting experience (PowerShell, Python, Bash, Perl, etc) Experience supporting Windows Failover Clusters and SQL Always On availability groups Proven track record troubleshooting highly available applications 1 years leveraging automation and orchestration utilities such as Puppet, Chef, or Docker Working knowledge of standard Windows Server security methodologies, hardening procedures, and best practices.
