Job Description:

The Technical Purchasing Specialist is responsible for sourcing, procurement and planning in the management of prototype, rework, and tooling part schedules related to new product introductions (NPI) and product/process development. The Technical Purchasing Specialist will determine how best to utilize the company's manufacturing capacity or use outside resources to meet project delivery requirements.Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide attainable delivery lead times to project leaders by reviewing potential supply sources and demands for those resources.
  • Expedite and update forecast as timelines change.
  • Release work orders to the internal resources to support the demand with consideration to capacity.
  • Utilize outside resources as needed to meet project schedules.
  • Review part requests provided by project leaders to determine the best resource.
  • Request quotes from vendors and place PO to receive materials within the quality and timeframe required.
  • Provide potential strategy/recovery plans for any part shortages and work closely with the project leaders to ensure delivery to meet the requested timelines.
  • Interface closely with the teams on new and upcoming demands or revisions of existing designs.
  • Create and maintain excellent working relationships with internal/external suppliers and customers.
  • Develop new rapid turn suppliers for the parts needed.
  • Maintain accountability for the lead-time, quality and costs of the parts.
  • Maintain purchasing records and related documentation according to company policy.Required Experience, Education, Skills and Competencies
    • Have demonstrated SolidWorks or other 3D CAD modeling experience
    • Drawing proficiency with good working knowledge of GD&T
    • Basic machine tool & fabrication knowledge
    • Experience with component and proprietary drawing specifications
    • Knowledge of ERP systems
    • Strong organizational and personal time management skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Proficiency in Microsoft programs (Word, Outlook, Excel, and Access)
    • Detailed analysis and problem solving skills
    • AAS degree in engineering or equivalent is required, BS degree a plus.
    • 1-3 years technical product planning
    • 1-3 years buying/purchasing experience in a manufacturing or engineering environmentTravel Requirements
      • Limited travel
