Job Description:
The Director, Product Engineering & Deployment, is responsible
for leading the development, delivery and lifecycle maintenance of
innovative digital solutions that support biotechnology operations.
The role exists to ensure scalable, compliant, and
business-value–driven data products are built and deployed across
manufacturing, quality, supply chain and other organizational use
cases. The position provides technical leadership, cross-functional
collaboration, and project execution oversight to enable advanced
data-driven decision making, operational excellence, and regulatory
compliance in end-to-end biotechnology operations. Key
Accountabilities • Lead end-to-end data product development
lifecycle to deliver reliable, scalable, and compliant solutions.
(25%) • Manage and mentor a team of software engineers ensuring
skills development, performance management, and alignment to
business objectives. (10%) • Collaborate with cross-functional
stakeholders (manufacturing, quality, supply chain, Development,
regulatory, and compliance) to translate business needs into
digital solutions. (10%) • Oversee product deployment and
integration with enterprise systems (e.g., MES, LIMS, SAP, cloud
data platforms), ensuring seamless operation in GxP environments.
(10%) • Ensure adherence to regulatory, cybersecurity, and quality
standards (FDA, EMA, GxP, data privacy) throughout software
development and deployment. (15%) • In collaboration with product
management, drive agile development practices (scrum, sprint
planning, backlog management), fostering rapid iteration and value
delivery. (10%) • In collaboration with platform architects, data
and AI engineers, provide technical leadership in modern software
architectures (cloud-native, microservices, APIs, AI/ML
integration, data pipelines). (5%) • Provide capabilities to
monitor product performance and user adoption, analyzing KPIs and
implementing enhancements to maximize value realization. (5%) •
Lead vendor and technology partner engagements, ensuring effective
collaboration and alignment with internal standards. (5%) • And
other job duties that may be assigned from time to time. (5%)
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements • Bachelor’s degree
in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science,
Biotechnology Informatics, or a related technical field required. •
10 years of professional experience in software development, data
platforms, or digital product deployment • At least 6 years in a
leadership or team lead capacity. • Proven experience in leading
cross-functional teams, managing full software product lifecycle
(design, development, testing, deployment, and support). • Strong
knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), modern software
architectures (microservices, APIs, containerization), and data/AI
integration. • Experience working in regulated biotechnology,
pharmaceutical, or life sciences environments (GxP, FDA, EMA
compliance) highly preferred. Preferred Education and Experience: •
Master’s degree in Data Science, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, or
Business/Technology Management preferred. Knowledge, Skills and
Abilities: • Technical: Expertise in modern programming languages
such as TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Java, GraphQL, C++, and
SQL. Familiarity with frameworks like Spring ORM, Spring Boot,
Nuxt.js, Serverless Framework, NestJS, Next.js, Ruby on Rails
(RoR), and Redux. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and
Azure. Competency in libraries/APIs including Node.js, Jenkins
Pipeline, React, Vue, Vuex, API Development, Apache Lucene, and
Protobuf. Proficient in containerization tools like Docker and
Kubernetes. Skilled in paradigms such as Continuous Delivery (CD),
Continuous Deployment, Continuous Integration (CI), Microservices,
REST, Lambda Architecture, Serverless Architecture, Event-driven
Architecture, DevOps, Database Design, Kanban, Concurrent
Programming, Agile Software Development, Scrum, and Microservices
Architecture. • Biotech / Domain: Understanding of biotech
processes, data standards, and regulatory frameworks (GxP, FDA 21
CFR Part 11, data privacy). • Leadership: Strong people management,
team building, and mentorship skills; ability to lead
multidisciplinary teams. • Analytical: Expertise in data analytics,
AI/ML integration, digital twins, and advanced visualization tools.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, stakeholder management,
problem-solving, and change management capabilities. • Other:
Ability to manage ambiguity, drive innovation, and deliver
solutions under tight deadlines in a regulated environment.
