Our interns learn to develop software in C, C , Assembly or other selected languages. Put your brain to work at Garmin. We are looking for a full time Software Engineer Intern with a Biomedical Engineering Concentration at our Cary, NC development center. In this role, you'll also be responsible for performing new product design and development and troubleshooting basic issue reports, evaluating technical cause and implementing software solutions related to Garmin Health Applications. Other essential functions include:Identifies and resolves defects of basic scope using proper engineering tools and techniques such as debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzersCommunicates status of work clearly providing visibility to supervisor or mentorMay be responsible for planning own technical workApplies design standards and procedures to implement basic designsLearns how to use and apply engineering tools as needed for this roleThoroughly documents work in an organized mannerWorks collaboratively and professionally in a team environment with other Garmin associates and third party partners to achieve goalsQualified candidates for this role will have completed at least junior year coursework in Biomedical Engineering plus Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a field relevant to perform the essential functions of this job description with a minimum cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0. Other requirements include:Current enrollment at Duke University's - Pratt School of EngineeringResearch or solution focused undergraduate project experience in data centric health and wellness concepts. Conceptual understanding and/or direct experience in data collection, data gathering, and analysis. Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsMust possess relevant experience and/or training in a high level language such as C , C# or Java relevant to Garmin's business needsMust possess relational database experienceMust possess relevant experience and/or training in data structures or object oriented design methodology relevant to Garmin's business needExperience creating or using RESTful APIs preferred A cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5 and previous experience working in a team environment is highly preferred as is enrollment in a multi concentration undergraduate degree program focused on Biomedical Engineering. Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar.Faculty references are a plus.
