TE Connectivity Energy Division is seeking an Electrical Lab Technician to join our Fuquay Varina team. This person will participate on new product development teams from initial concept/design through to new product release and will be responsible for ANSI connector qualification. The Electrical Lab Technician will perform electrical, environmental and mechanical testing to establish performance characteristics of connectors used to join conductors in a laboratory environment to support Engineering, Research, Development and Product management. Individual works within an assigned area in a team environment. Work will be primarily carried out in an Lab environment on-site. Responsibilities:

* Plan and perform electrical qualification tests on power connectors to industry standards * Work with overhead conductors, cables and connectors and test equipment for measurement and confirmation of performance of connectors * Prepare test loops with overhead conductors, cables and install connectors, equalizers, thermocouples for testing to ANSI C119.4 standard * Document test and measurement data and may assist in preparation of test reports * Plan work in accordance to Electrical and Occupational Safety and electromagnetic interference to surrounding environment * Adhere to all applicable safety rules and practices and utilize appropriate personal protective gear during course of work


What your background should look like:

* Five years' experience in a similar role, including two years of experience working with electrical connectors in a lab testing environment * Two years' experience with testing power connectors for power systems * Two years' experience preparing test loops with overhead conductors, cables and install connectors, equalizers, thermocouples for testing to ANSI C119.4 standard * Strong knowledge of ANSI, UL, IEEE, IEC connector specifications * Proficiency with preparation and connectors installation tools and possess strong electrical and mechanical aptitude * Experience operating and troubleshooting high current test equipment (Transformers, Voltage, Current, Resistance and temperature measurement circuits); experience with ohm meter, volt meter, amp meter etc.) * Thorough understanding of electric circuits * Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, data acquisition equipment, and electrical test equipment * Associates Degree in a technical field * Solid knowledge of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and materials science. * Ability to take task instructions verbally, by sketch or from specification documents, and to read assembly instructions and drawings. * Proficient with MS Office Suite and LabView * Ability to drive projects to completion in a timely manner with high realization of objectives, and to function independently and be self-motivated. * Excellent oral and written communication skills across all levels/departments of the organization. * Highly organized and detailed approach to work in deadline-driven environment * Able to read and comprehend assembly instructions and drawings, keep organized notebooks, plan and manage multiple test programs, collect and manage test data, write test reports, drive projects to completion in a timely manner with high realization of objectives * Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. comfortably
