Scientific Associate I / II (Virus) - Splitting Optimization

This role will provide support to TD Late Stage Development on
downstream purification projects of varying size to support
influenza candidate vaccine virus splitting optimization activities
under limited supervision.
1. - - - - - - - - - - Process and Product Development:
Partner with diverse team members from various functions to
contribute to the overarching TD team goal of influenza vaccine
Responsible for small scale purification processing in support of
ongoing candidate vaccine virus optimization studies.
Collaboratively design small scale experiments to characterize and
define optimized viral splitting conditions for lead influenza
candidate vaccine viruses.
Routinely execute small scale centrifugation and normal flow
filtration experiments to optimize influenza candidate vaccine
viruses and virus seeds.
May support/participate in pilot scale studies.
Troubleshooting of instrument malfunction and identifying possible
root causes for study excursions/failures.
2. - - - Additional Responsibilities:
Responsible for summarizing and analyzing data, applying
statistical techniques such as Design of Experiments (DOE) and
presenting study results.
Maintain proper laboratory documentation including work
instructions, lab notebooks, logbooks, appropriate electronic
documentation, and lab reports.
Communicate (present, write-up in technical documents, etc.)
results to colleagues, project teams, and management.
When appropriate, follow all applicable SOPs and GMP requirements
in support of lab activities.
Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in Virology, Molecular Biology or
Minimum of 3 years of experience.
Knowledge of / experience in protein biochemistry and separation
Knowledge of bioprocess unit operations (e.g. chromatography,
centrifugation, precipitation, TFF and NFF filtration) and
engineering scaling principles is desired
Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) and other statistical
techniques is desired
Knowledge of GMPs preferred.
Ability to work with cross functional teams.
Strong communication skills, technical writing ability, and good
attention to detail.
Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal
