**Job Summary**
Within our U.S. planning and water resources business, we have seen
consistent growth driven by our clients' needs to address
challenges stemming from stormwater regulations, flooding,
stormwater capture and groundwater management, water quality
impairments driven by wet weather runoff, asset management, and
efforts to increase the use of green infrastructure and
nature-based solutions. We anticipate an increased focus on
integrated and One Water planning and holistic watershed management
as clients work to mitigate repetitive flood losses, repurpose
stormwater as a resource to recharge dwindling local supplies, and
mitigate the effects of climate change. This position represents a
strategic business initiative for Black & Veatch, and the Water
Resources position focused on stormwater, watershed, and integrated
planning is designed to help the company grow its market share by
providing world-class planning and water resource services.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Leverage and build relationships with key water resource leaders
and decision makers throughout the Carolinasand across the Eastern
US to drive the growth of the business.
+ Lead and/or support planning and design of stormwater
improvements, including open channels, storm or combined sewer
systems, and stormwater detention/retention facilities.
+ Lead and/or support planning and design of green infrastructure
and sustainable watershed measures, including green infrastructure,
BMPs, and nature-based solutions.
+ Support resilience studies and implementation projects for USACE
and FEMA efforts.
+ Lead planning and design of flood mitigation improvements,
including dams, levees, reservoirs, and pump stations.
+ Support scenario planning efforts for wet weather, stormwater,
and TMDL compliance projects
+ Lead and/or support planning projects that incorporate One Water
Management efforts including water supply, reuse, desalination,
groundwater, distribution/collection, climate change, and
resilience studies.
+ Manage teams that apply sophisticated collection system,
watershed and receiving stream H&H and water quality models
+ Interface with innovative stormwater, water quality, and planning
partners to leverage new technologies and approaches for the
benefit of our clients
+ Lead business development efforts Support building and leading
Planning and Asset Management Teams. Serve as a mentor and leader
to team members.
**Management Responsibilities**
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ 10+ years of water resources planning and design experience
+ Experience with client-facing/business development efforts in the
Carolinasand the Eastern US
+ Experience with leading/growing teams, mentoring professionals,
and expanding service offerings
+ Experience developing and executing water resource planning and
design projects
+ Have proficiency with some or all of the following applications
and models
+ HEC-RAS
+ HEC-HMS
+ EPA/XP-SWMM
+ InfoWorks
+ EFDC
+ CFD
+ ArcGIS
+ Cityworks, Lucity, or other Asset Management/CMMS systems
+ Experience with stormwater and wet weather regulatory
requirements and procedures
**Minimum Qualifications**
Minimum of 3 years' of experience performing duties similar to
those of an Environmental Scientist 4. All applicants must be able
to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected)
which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil
background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in
compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
