Summary for Manufacturing Operator - Honing: Operation honing machine to complete work-steps of a manufacturing order. Fills hydraulic reservoir of tool-holding products.Essential duties and responsibilities for Manufacturing Operator - Honing include the following:(Other duties may be assigned)Hones piston-bores to surface specified on drawing or verbal assignment through supervisor.Determines size of required piston and either grinds it from blank or selects one from pre-sized assortment.Visually inspects piston-bore for sharp corners or burrs, before inserting seal.Connects work pieces to vacuum-fill station and fills hydraulic reservoir.Inserts specified ball and screw into vent hole and seals it up.Tests function of expansion zone.Cooperation and communicating with co-workers for Manufacturing Operator - Honing:Confers with supervisor and co-workers to about quality or functional concerns and non-conforming piston-bores.Confers with supervisor for subsequent work-steps.Communicates with tool supply department for tool requirements.Blueprint readingUnderstands blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals and sample parts to determine function and tolerances of finished work-piece; sequence of operations.Quality-assuranceUnderstands location of active expansion-zones and their expansion limit.Refers to reference documents posted at machine or point of use.Understands operation and handling of calipers and all precision-grade gages to be used during in-process and finished inspection.Understands metric & English measurement systems.Verifies conformance of finished work-piece by visually checking, testing function and signing off on manufacturing papers.Confers with supervisor or coworkers to resolve difficulties and concerns in machining process or design of parts.Confers with supervisor and co-workers to about quality or functional concerns and non-conforming piston-bores.Confers with supervisor for subsequent work-steps.Communicates with tool supply department for tool requirements.General maintenance of machine/ equipmentUnderstands machine maintenance schedule and performs scheduled maintenance intervals on machine/ equipmentKeeps working area orderly and cleanMaintains work areas in accordance with SCHUNK 5S systemOrganizes tools and accessories inside of drawers in tool cabinets at working area/ machineSweeps up oil- and coolant spills on machine, cabinets and surrounding areaLanguage SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsNoneEducation and/or Experience:A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
