Description:
This position requires specialized knowledge in servo and motion
control systems and excellent electrical and mechanical
troubleshooting and repair skills. The position may require up to
40% travel to support customers with the installation and service
of machines, customer training and repairs, along with in-house
repairs and projects. This individual must promote SCHUNK
professionally on the job and in the industry.What You Will Do as
an Electro-Mechanical Service Technician:
- Support and train customers with installation, run-offs,
start-up and maintenance of machines
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical problems
- Travel 20 to 40% of work time in North America and abroad
depending on customer and business needs
- Diagnose complex technical problems and perform on-site
repair
- Support customer applications in house and at customer
site
- Diagnose technical problems and troubleshoot via telephone or
email
- Examine machines mechanically / electrically and perform
repairs by dismantling machines and rebuilding mechanical and
electrical systems
- Effectively interpret schematics and block diagrams to analyze
and troubleshoot problems
- Document detailed product problems and resolutions
Requirements:
What you will need to be an Electro-Mechanical Service Technician
- 2 yr or higher degree in Electronics or Industrial Systems
Technology or related field
- Ability to use PC applications including advanced skills with
Microsoft Office suite and email
- Experience in servo and motion control systems
- Experience in PLC operation and troubleshooting
- Experience in troubleshooting and repair of electrical and
mechanical systems
- Confident, articulate, and professional speaking abilities
- Ability to write repair process documentation that others can
follow
- Able to read mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams
- Skilled in electrical measurement and inspection techniques and
able to use a digital multi-meter and oscilloscope
- Experience in linear motor technology - A Plus
- Process knowledge in depaneling printed circuit boards (PCBs) -
A Plus
- Skilled in mechanical measurement and inspection techniques
