Hours: This is a dayshift position with a start time between
9:00am-11:00am. Start time to be discussed at time of interview.
Schedule options include: Ten-hour dayshift option, Thursday-Sunday
(every weekend), with rotating holidays Ten-hour dayshift option,
Wednesday- Friday and every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday), with
rotating holidays Summary: This position has responsibilities in
the Central Processing, Bacteriology, and Special Microbiology
sections of the laboratory. The Special Microbiology section
consists of Mycobacteriology, Mycology, Parasitology, and Sendouts.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to processing and
testing specimens by using manual techniques as well as total
laboratory automation, mass spectrometry, and molecular methods. As
a member of our team this candidate will also perform specimen
processing and setup tasks, Gram stains, rapid antigen testing,
plate reading of cultures, susceptibility testing, and organism
identification. Responsibilities: 1. Investigates problems with
equipment, test results, specimens, and/or workflow. 2. May
participate on teams or perform special projects/assignments. 3.
May perform teaching of Clinical Laboratory Science students and
Pathology residents and training of new employees. May serve as a
technical resource. 4. Performs quality control and equipment
maintenance in the appropriate laboratory. 5. Performs routine and
less standardized test procedures which includes special chemical,
microscopic and bacteriologic laboratory tests. Observes tests and
reactions and provides data. 6. Prepares specimens and reagents,
solutions, heat, or filters as required. 7. Reports results to
healthcare providers. Consults/confers with health care providers
regarding test results. 8. Reviews test results to ensure accuracy
of report and timely correction of errors. Other Information Other
information: Education Requirements: ? Associate's degree in
Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician,
Chemical Science, or Biological Science. Licensure/Certification
Requirements: ? If Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory
Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, then must be ASCP or AMT
Board of Certification eligible and must receive BOC within a year.
? If Associate's degree in chemical or biological science, Medical
Laboratory Technician (ASCP) or MLT (AMT) Board of Certification
